Doha, Qatar: Qatar Government Excellence Award will promote leadership in the government sector aiming to achieve multiple targets.
The Government Communications Office (GCO) said on its X platform that the award aims to elevate government performance and support innovation.
“It also aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the government sector, support human cadres to meet future needs, foster a culture of excellence among employees,” said GCO in an infographic.
“With the introduction of the Qatar Government Excellence Award, the State of Qatar aims to establish a more flexible and efficient government sector to enhance the quality of services provided to its citizens,” GCO further said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani issued on August 16 Amiri Decision No. (63) of 2023 establishing the Qatar Award for Government Excellence.
The decision stipulated that this award be established with the aim of raising the level of quality of government performance, and encouraging government agencies and employees to compete in applying the highest standards of quality, development and excellence in performance, by honoring the distinguished achievements and efforts of all groups that contribute to the realization of the national vision of the State of Qatar.
The decision also stipulated that a committee be established in the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau called the “Qatar Award for Government Excellence Committee of Trustees” to manage the award’s affairs in order to achieve its objectives, set the necessary standards for awarding the award, determine its categories and levels, and set up its procedures.
On the Qatar Award for Government Excellence, President of Civil Service and Government Development Bureau H E Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa had also affirmed Qatar Government Excellence Award established by Amiri Decision No. 63 of 2023 issued by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani aims to build a flexible government sector that maintains the quality of performance and achieve the highest standards of quality, development, organizational and administrative modernization, and improves performance in various government agencies.
Al Khalifa noted that the award would make data management and technology among the basic pillars of institutional excellence, support innovation, and create a culture of excellence and competition among employees in various entities.
